Does it really take a lifetime to know who we really are? Or are we so busy fitting into society that we forget who we really are and become someone else?
Why are we willing to cut down on enjoyment of life just to be able to have “friends” and feel as if we are just as “good” as anyone else we know or can come to know one day
“just be yourself” the most misused guide in our society. The moment being yourself goes against society’s standards you are out of the ring, kicked out and exiled. But does that really matter? Who sets all the standards of our society? What makes one better than other or less or worse?
Every day of our life is a gamble. Question is what are we willing to gamble? Our dignity, joy, happiness, peace of mind and truthfulness? For what? Few friends and approval of family so we don’t feel lonely and left out?
Isn’t true that those who truly love you will always love you for who you are and not who you pretend to be? It is understandable to want to be wanted, loved, cherished and accepted but if we want all of that, shouldn’t be the true self of us and not the made-up, masked up and fake us?
I guess the natural human desire to be accepted by all is stronger than the desire to seek the truth.
